Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange as it began. So, glad tidings to the strangers."
Narrated by MuslimThe Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that Islam began as something strange, with few people embracing it, and it will return as something strange, with only a few upholding it, just as it began. So, great joy and glad tidings to the strangers, and happiness and contentment for them.
Sahl ibn Sa‘d (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware of insignificant sins, for indeed, an example of insignificant sins is like a group of people who alighted at the bottom of a valley: one of them brought a stick, and another brought a stick, until they cooked their bread. Verily, insignificant sins, if one is held accountable for them, they perish him."
Narrated by AhmadThe Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) warned against taking minor sins lightly and committing them excessively, as their accumulation can lead to destruction. He gave an example of a group of people who alighted at the bottom of a valley; each brought a small stick until they gathered enough to cook their bread. Similarly, insignificant sins, if their perpetrator is called to account for them without having repented or been pardoned by Allah, can ultimately ruin him.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was only sent to perfect noble morals."
Narrated by Al-Bukhāri in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad, and by Ahmad and Al-BayhaqiThe Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that Allah Almighty only sent him to perfect virtuous and noble morals. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to complete the work of the previous messengers and to perfect the Arabs' commendable traits. They used to like goodness and hate evil, embodying virtues such as chivalry, generosity, and magnanimity. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to address and perfect the deficiencies in their morals, such as their pride in lineage, arrogance, disdain of the poor, and others.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty said: The son of Adam hurts Me by cursing time, while I am time. The matter is in My Hands, I alternate the night and the day."
Agreed uponThe Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that Allah Almighty says in the Qudsi Hadīth: The human being hurts Me and belittles Me when he curses and blames time during the times of calamities and hardships, for it is Allah Almighty alone Who controls and governs everything that happens. Therefore, cursing time is, in reality, cursing Allah Almighty, as time is a subjugated created entity in which events occur by the command of Allah.
Abu Ruqayyah Tamīm ibn Aws ad-Dāri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Religion is sincerity." We said: "To whom?" He said: "To Allah, to His Book, to His Messenger, to the Muslim leaders and their common folk."
Narrated by MuslimThe Prophet (ﷺ) informed that the religion rests upon sincerity and truthfulness, to be observed as Allah ordained, in a perfect manner without shortcomings or deception. It was said to the Prophet (ﷺ): To whom should the sincerity be? He said: First: Sincerity should be to Allah Almighty: by performing deeds sincerely for His sake, not associating partners with Him, believing in His lordship, divinity, names, and attributes, revering His command, and calling people to believe in Him. Second: Sincerity should be to His Book, namely the Noble Qur’an: by believing that it is His speech and the last book revealed by Him and that it abrogated all the legislations before it—and by revering it, reciting it correctly, acting upon its definite verses and accepting its ambiguous ones, defending it against the misinterpretation of those who seek to distort it, taking lessons from its admonitions, spreading its knowledge, and calling people to it. Third: Sincerity should be to His Messenger Muhammad (ﷺ): by believing that he is the last Messenger, believing him in all that he came with, observing his commands and prohibitions, worshiping Allah only according to what he came with, venerating and revering him, spreading his call, disseminating his Shariah, and negating the false accusations from him. Fourth: Sincerity should be to the leaders of the Muslims: by helping them in what is right, not disputing with them over power, and hearing and obeying them in what is pleasing to Allah. Fifth: Sincerity should be to the Muslims: by showing kindness to them, calling them to Allah, averting harm from them, wishing good for them, and cooperating with them in righteousness and piety.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Charity is due upon every joint in a person's body each day the sun rises: to judge justly between two people is a charity. To help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it, is a charity. Saying a good word is a charity. Every step that you take towards the prayer is a charity, and removing a harmful object from the road is a charity."
Narrated by Al-Bukhāri and MuslimThe Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) clarified that every religiously accountable Muslim should give every day a voluntary charity on behalf of every single one of his bone joints as a form of expressing gratitude to Allah Almighty for well-being and for creating his bones with joints that allow him to grasp and stretch. This charity can be fulfilled not through giving money alone but through all types of righteous acts, which include: Acting justly and reconciling between those in disagreement counts as a charity. Helping someone disabled with his mount by helping him ride on it or lifting his luggage on it counts as a charity. The good word, whether it is Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), supplication, greeting of peace, or otherwise counts as a charity. Every step you take to the prayer counts as a charity. Removing what is harmful from the way counts as a charity.
‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) sent out a detachment and appointed a man from the Ansār as their leader, instructing them to obey him. He became angry and said: Did not the Prophet (ﷺ) command you to obey me? They replied: Yes. He said: Then gather some firewood for me. So they gathered it. He then said: Light a fire, and they did. Then he said: Enter it. They were about to do so, but some held back the others, saying: We fled to the Prophet (ﷺ) to escape from the Fire. They remained like that until the fire went out and his anger subsided. When the Prophet (ﷺ) was informed of this, he said: "Had they entered it, they would never have come out of it until the Day of Judgment. Obedience is only in what is right."
Agreed uponThe Prophet (ﷺ) sent out an army and appointed a man from the Ansār as their leader, instructing them to obey him. The leader became angry with them and said: Did not the Prophet (ﷺ) command you to obey me? They said: Yes. He said: Then I command you to gather firewood, light a fire, and enter it. So they gathered the firewood and lit the fire, but when they were about to enter it, they began looking at one another. And they said: We only followed the Prophet (ﷺ) to escape from the Fire—so should we enter it? While they were in this state, the flames of the fire went out, and the leader's anger subsided. When the Prophet (ﷺ) was informed of this, he said: Had they obeyed him and entered the fire they had kindled, they would have been tormented therein and would not have come out of it until the existence of this world. There is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to the Creator; obedience is only required in what is right, not in sin.
Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be rulers who tell lies and oppress; whoever believes their lies and assists them in their oppression does not belong to me, and I do not belong to him, and he will not come to the Hawd (Basin). But whoever does not believe their lies and does not assist them in their oppression belongs to me, and I belong to him, and he will come to the Hawd."
Narrated by AhmadThe Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed that after his death, there will be rulers who tell lies in their speech, saying what they do not do, and they will oppress in their ruling. Whoever joins them, believes their lies, or helps them by acting wrongfully or by speech, such as giving them fatwas to please them or seeking what they offer, I dissociate myself from him; he does not belong to me, and I do not belong to him, and he will not come to Hawd Al-Kawthar on the Day of Judgment. However, anyone who does not join them, does not believe their lies, and does not help them in their oppression belongs to me, and I belong to him, and he will come to the Hawd on the Day of Judgment.
Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let not the fear of people prevent any man among you from speaking the truth when he sees it or knows it."
Narrated by At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Mājah, and AhmadThe Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) addressed his Companions, and among the advice he gave was that a Muslim should not be deterred by the fear or power of people from speaking the truth or commanding it when he sees or knows it.
